More than US$53 million allocated for alt-meat-producing companies in the East Asian nation.
The government of Japan last week awarded millions of dollars in grant money to alternative protein startups in the latest round of its Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises Innovation Creation Promotion Project, run by the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries.
With 139 companies applying for grant funds, four alt-meat companies received the nod, including:
