Alt-meats not a silver bullet for heart health, but analysis shows promising results.
Substituting plant-based meat alternatives for their animal-derived counterparts lowered low-density lipoprotein (LDL, or "bad") cholesterol by 12%, total cholesterol by 6% and body weight by 1% in adults without cardiovascular disease, but otherwise had little effect on cardiometabolic health, according to a meta-analysis of eight recent publications on the subject.
