Aussie cultivated meat company, Vow, set off fireworks in 2023 when it unveiled a meatball made from the DNA of an extinct woolly mammoth. Predictable adjectives — “bizarre," “exotic” “weird” — followed, including in this publication, but speculation about tiger patties or black rhino sausages missed the point.
Vow co-founder and CEO George Peppou got the world’s attention, and promptly trained his focus on Sydney-based Vow’s true goal, as mentioned on its website: “Totally new experiences.”
